Chelsea vs Sheffield United Prediction & Match Preview

Saturday, August 31 – 10:00 EST – Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are facing off newly promoted Sheffield United for the first time since the 2006/07 season. The results favored Chelsea in that season as they had earned a 2-0 and 3-0 win. They will now want to replicate those results and impress their fans. Until now, we have not yet determined Chelsea’s identity for the season. They have had their share of mixed results. They first lost against Manchester United, then drew Leicester, and finally won against Norwich. Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount both shone in those performances, as they recorded 2 goals to their names so far. However, if Chelsea want to get anywhere near a top 4 finish this season, they will need to drastically improve defensively. They have conceded a total of 7 goals so far this season, which is tied for the second worst defensive record.

Sheffield United on the other hand is enjoying their return to the Premier League thus far. Their record is identical to Chelsea’s, however they have been able to shut down their opponents more frequently. The visitors have only allowed 3 goals in 3 matches, and will look for another strong defensive display on Saturday. It won’t be an easy task however, as this should be their toughest test so far. Chelsea’s youngsters will want to create as many chances as possible to impress the home crowd. We are expecting them to score at least a couple of goals against the newly promoted team. For that reason, we believe that Chelsea will earn their second consecutive win and break down Sheffield’s defense at the Stamford Bridge.
