Dortmund vs Barcelona Prediction & Match Preview

Tuesday, September 17 – 15:00 EST – Signal Iduna Park

Dortmund have had a great start to the season. They have won three of their opening four matches in the Bundesliga. Scoring goals has not been an issue for the home side. They have found the back of the net 13 times so far this season. Despite this, they have not been able to create similar success in the Champions league. Dortmund have won just twice in their last eight home matches in the Champions League. This Dortmund side have had a lot of difficulty performing and getting results in this competition. They will look to their key players to make a difference here. Marco Reus as usual will be one of those men. Paco Alcacer is another man worth keeping an eye on as he has scored in every one of Dortmund’s matches so far in the Bundesliga.

Barcelona will look to kick off Tuesday’s match in style. They have scored 12 goals in their last 12 matches. Given that Lionel Messi is out with a calf injury, they have had a decent start to their La Liga season. They have lost just one of their four league matches. Ernesto Valverde’s last two Champions League runs with Barcelona have not been ideal. They blew their lead in the quarter finals at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome in 2018. Earlier this year against Liverpool at Anfield they conceded four times to give up their lead in the semi finals. With this being said Valverde will have a lot to prove in this competition.
