This match will arguably be one of the most entertaining of the weekend, as the two top teams in the group go head to head. Finland vs Italy Prediction & Match Preview

Sunday, September 8 – 14:45 EST – Tampere Stadium

Finland are looking to get their fifth consecutive win this Sunday against Italy in front of their home crowd. They currently sit second in Group J just three points behind Italy. They have only lost only one of their European Qualifiers and it was in March to the Azzurri. In their last match against Greece, Teemu Pukki did well to convert a penalty in the 52nd minute of play which ended as a 1-0 victory. Finland are undoubtedly the underdogs in this one, but their recent performances and their home advantage are indicators that they cannot be counted out.

Italy currently sit at the top of Group J with 15 points. They have recorded wins in every one of their European Qualification fixtures. Roberto Mancini’s men had a rather slow start last game against Armenia, but did well to leave with 3 points. Andrea Belotti found the back of the net twice in what ended as a 3-1 victory for the Azzurri. In their last 5 matches, Italy have found the back of the net 16 times, conceding only twice. This Sunday, they face Finland who sit right below them in Group J. Expect Italy to come out with their usual attack minded approach in this one. Historically, Italy have faced Finland 12 times and have never been beaten. With that being said, the Azzurri cannot underestimate this Finnish team that has done well so far in the qualifiers.
