Liverpool vs Norwich Prediction & Match Preview

Friday, August 9 – 15:00 EST – Anfield

With no surprise, Liverpool enter the 2019/20 season as one of the favorites to lift the trophy. Last season, Liverpool managed to lose the Premier League to rivals Manchester City by only 1 point. However, still fresh off their Champions League success, they will want to make a strong opening statement this Friday at the Anfield. On the other hand, Norwich return to the Premier League for the first time since the 2015/16 season. Norwich fully dominated the Championship last season, as they finished off their campaign with 94 points to their name. Their return to the Premier League could not have started with a tougher fixture, as they face a team that was unbeatable in front of their home crowd last season.

Speaking of which, Liverpool won 17 of the 19 fixtures that they played at the Anfield, while drawing the other 2. They haven’t lost an opening day fixture in 6 consecutive seasons. Furthermore, Liverpool have been enjoying themselves against newly promoted teams. They are currently on an 11-match winning streak, and in 8 of those matches they were able to win without conceding. While opening day fixtures could always involve a surprise or two, we don’t think Norwich will be able to get much from this match. It is worth to say though that this fixture could potentially consist of a high-scoring affair. In the last 4 meetings between Liverpool and Norwich, both teams managed to find the back of the net. We think that Liverpool will come out on top and score a couple of goals passed the newly promoted team.
