Mallorca shocked the world last year. After finishing fifth in the Segunda division they secured promotion to the top tier through qualifying playoffs. For a team that lost 11 games in the Segunda division last year and to find their way into La Liga is remarkable. They were not a dominant force, however they won at the right time and propelled themselves to success. Real Madrid loanee Takefusa Kubo will be looking for his first start of the campaign. The young Japanese winger is looking to develop at a steady pace and prove Real Madrid’s investment was great business. Beyond Kubo, the squad lacks obvious talent. However, it is quite positive to see how much game time and faith the club gives its young players. It is clear they are relying on the dynamism of youth to get them through in the absence of experience.

Bilbao have been flying high since the start of the season. They have only allowed an impressive one goal in three games. Their most awe inspiring win came at home to Barcelona on the opening day. Manager Gaizka Garitano has done a fantastic job of organizing his squad. Offensively, Bilbao count on Aritz Aduriz, Inaki Williams and Iker Munian to carry the load. Like a fine red wine, Aritz Aduriz seems to be getting better with age. At 38 years old, he continues to be a clinical striker in front of goal. Mix his experience with the pace of Williams and Bilbao have a tandem to be feared by La Liga defenders. Furthermore, full backs Yuri Berchiche and Ander Capa have been in incredible form. They have bombed up the flanks and defended well in all three games.
