We got more baseball action today as we feature our MLB Daily Double for Thursday’s matches. Last night, we were able to correctly predict just one of the two featured matches. We will look to bounce back and improve on our positive record for the month of August. We got another two exciting matchups to look at today, as we cover our picks for another MLB Daily Double.

Texas Rangers vs Minnesota Twins (August 15 – 20:06 EST)

Expected Pitchers: Pedro Payano (1-1, ERA: 3.86) vs Michael Pineda (7-5, ERA: 4.15)

The Rangers face the Twins in the opening match of the series on Thursday evening at the Globe Life Park. Texas is coming off four consecutive home wins, while Minnesota split a two match series against Milwaukee. The Rangers have been one of the better American League teams when playing at home. However, the same could be said about the Twins, as they are currently the 2nd best team in the league when it comes to away matches. We are expecting a close encounter between these two teams, however, it is to note that the Twins are 7-1 in their last 8 during game 1 of a series. They also have an upper hand on the Rangers this season, winning two out of the three matches so far. We think that Minnesota will continue their positive away record tonight.

Oakland Athletics vs Houston Astros (August 15 – 22:07 EST)

Expected Pitchers: Mike Fiers (11-3, ERA: 3.18) vs Aaron Sanchez (5-14, ERA: 5.60)

The Athletics welcome the Astros in the opening match of the series between the two teams. This is surely going to be an exciting series to watch as the two top teams in the American League west division face each other on Thursday. Oakland has won 7 of their last 10 home matches, while the Astros have won 6 of their last 10 away matches. Houston has shown their dominance against Oakland this season, as they won 9 out of the 11 matches that they played against each other. However, the Athletics will look to bounce back and pick up an important win tonight. They will be relying on their starting pitcher Mike Fiers to do just that. Oakland is 5-1 in Fiers’ last 6 home starts. We think that Oakland will manage to keep this game tight against Houston, and count on their home form to potentially edge them. For that reason, we are giving them an advantage on the runline.
