Philadelphia Phillies vs Pittsburgh Pirates (August 26 – 19:05 EST)

Expected Pitchers: Jason Vargas (6-6, ERA: 3.99) vs Joe Musgrove (8-12, ERA: 4.87)

The Phillies host the Pirates in the opening match of the series at Citizens Bank Park on Monday evening. Philadelphia is coming off a shaky series against the Miami Marlins, winning only 1 of 3 matches. They now face the Pirates in a series where they must dominate and earn wins if they want to keep battling in the National League Wild Card race. Speaking of which, Pittsburgh was capable of dominating and sweeping the Cincinnati Reds in the past couple of days. The most remarkable result was their 14-0 win on Saturday. They will want to prove their doubters that these wins did not come by fluke. Furthermore, the Phillies have been doing well at home, winning 6 of their 10 last matches. They have only lost 2 matches in their last 10 against the Pirates. We’re expecting the Phillies to earn a much important victory tonight in the opening match of the series.

Kansas City Royals vs Oakland Athletics (August 26 – 20:15 EST)

Expected Pitchers: Brad Keller (7-13, ERA: 3.95) vs Homer Bailey (11-8, ERA: 5.06)

The Royals face off the Athletics in the opening match of the series at Kauffman Stadium on Monday evening. Kansas City is coming off a tight win against Cleveland as they won 9-8 on Sunday. On the other hand, the Athletics have lost 2 consecutive matches against the Giants, after having swept the Yankees. They will look to bounce back with an important win tonight when they travel to Kansas City. Oakland will be pleased to know that they hold a 4-0 record against teams with a winning percentage that is under 40%. Furthermore, they are 7-3 in their last 10 overall matches. Their pitcher Homer Bailey has won 4 of his last 7 starts, and will be looking for a comfortable win on Monday.
