Boston Red Sox vs Minnesota Twins

Thursday, September 5 – 19:10 EST – Fenway Park

Expected Pitchers: Nathan Eovaldi (1-0, ERA: 6.23) vs Martin Perez (9-6, ERA: 4.83)

The Red Sox host the Twins in the third match of the series on Thursday evening at Fenway Park. The series is split one a piece so far, as the Twins won the opening match and the Red Sox tied things up last night. Boston know that they will need as many wins as possible from now until the end of the month in order to qualify for the post-season. They are currently battling with other teams to clinch a spot through the wildcard standings. On that note, they’ve had a very balanced season so far at Fenway Park, as they hold a 35-35 record. They will count on their starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi to earn them a much needed win tonight. It won’t be an easy task however, as Eovaldi posted an 8.00 ERA in his last three starts. He will need to improve on that if he wants to keep the Twins quiet on the score sheet.

On the other hand, the Twins are still the leaders in the American League Central Division. They have a decent advantage over the Cleveland Indians as they lead by 5.5 games. Minnesota will hope to put last night’s result behind them as they look to close the series with a win. They are 8-2 in their last 10 road games and chances are that they will continue their dominance against a team that’s been very inconsistent this season. The Twins will hope that their starting pitcher Martin Perez will bounce back after last week’s defeat against the Tigers. We are expecting the Twins to have a good performance tonight as they very rarely lose back to back games. For that reason, we decided to give them a boost on the run line tonight as they should be able to cover it.
