Los Angeles Angels vs Cleveland Indians
Monday, September 9 – 22:07 EST – Angel Stadium of Anaheim
Expected Pitchers: Patrick Sandoval (0-2, ERA: 4.91) vs Shane Bieber (13-7, ERA: 3.24)
The Angels host the Indians in the opening match of the series on Monday evening. The home team won’t be participating in this season’s playoffs. For the remainder of the season, the Angels will most likely experiment various options as they are doing tonight with their starting pitcher. Rookie Patrick Sandoval is expected to take the mound for the home team as he seeks his first win of the season. The pitcher has been disappointing thus far as he comes into Monday’s match with a 0-2 record and an ERA of 4.91. He will have to improve if he wants to gift his team an upset win over Cleveland. The Angels have also been poor, as they only won 3 of their last 10 matches. In addition, they have only managed to win 5 of their last 27 matches against the Indians.
On the other hand, Cleveland is coming into this match with a lot of motivation following their series win against Minnesota. Our free pick winner last night earned a respectable 5-2 result over the Twins. As we had mentioned yesterday, the Indians have a lot to play for this month as they are seeking a spot in the wildcard standings. As it stands, they are currently 1.5 games behind the Athletics. Their starting pitcher tonight is expected to be Shane Bieber. The 24 year old has been phenomenal this season. He currently holds a 14-5 record in his last 19 road starts. He will make it tough for the Angels to get runs on Monday evening. For the second night in a row, we are taking the Indians as our free pick.
