Napoli vs Sampdoria Prediction & Match Preview

Saturday, September 14 – 12:00 EST – San Paolo

After mounting a heroic 3 goal comeback against Juventus two weeks ago, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly produced a horrendous own goal to give Juventus the victory. It will be a test of Napoli’s mental strength to come out strong against Sampdoria. Ancelotti has done a fantastic job of managing this team. They also won a 4-3 thriller against Fiorentina. The one thing Ancelotti will look to improve on is the squad’s defensive performances. They have conceded 7 goals in two games. If not for their dynamic offensive performances they would be blown out of matches similar to their opponents Sampdoria. New signing Hirving Lozano single handedly changed the game against Juventus when he came on after half time. He will look to build on this impressive performance and begin the match in the starting eleven.

Sampdoria have a lot of work to do. The Di Francesco era could not have started any worse. After losing 3-0 and 4-1, this Sampdoria squad need to find answers to their struggles quickly. Their season may very well spiral out of control if they succumb to another heavy defeat against Napoli. They will need to forget about the past games and show mental fortitude in front of Napoli’s home fans. It was always going to be difficult to replace star defender Joachim Andersen. His absence is felt at the back and it shows with how many goals they are conceding. They have struggled offensively as well. Only Quagliarella has scored a single goal in two games. Unfortunately, there aren’t many solutions on the bench. It may be time for Di Francesco to change his tactics.
