Poland vs Austria takes place on Monday at National Warsaw Stadium in what will be one of the pivotal matches of the group. Poland sit just three points ahead of Austria in Group G, and they will be looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Slovenia. Austria will look to replicate their recent performances. If they manage to leave this one with three points it will be their fourth consecutive win in the European Championship qualifying. With that being said, beating Poland at home is easier said than done.
Poland vs Austria Prediction & Match Preview
Monday, September 9 – 14:45 EST – National Stadium Warsaw
As it stands, Poland sit at the top of Group G. Behind them are Austria who are three points behind. They have secured four wins and will be looking for their fifth on Monday in front of their home crowd. This Polish side will look to be much better than they were in their latest match against Slovenia which ended in a 2-0 defeat. As usual, a man to keep an eye on is Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski. Another player capable of having an impact up front is AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek who has outscored Lewandowski in qualifying by three goals. Poland have won all but one of their last 12 home games in European Championship qualifying.
Austria did not start their European Qualifying campaign in the best way possible as they lost their first two matches. Despite this, they seem to have been able to make a serious turnaround. They have won their last three matches and will be looking for their fourth on Monday against Poland. They are going to aim to replicate their performance in their last match where they beat Latvia 6-0. Austria have never beat Poland. Anything short of an exceptional performance against this impressive home side simply will not be enough for Austria.
