Real Madrid vs Valladolid Prediction & Match Preview

Saturday, August 24 – 13:00 EST – Estadio Santiago Bernabeu

All eyes were on Madrid in Matchday 1. Would we get the same disorganized mess of a club they turned out to be during last campaign? Or would we get a Madrid with eager new faces ready to make Zidane’s second spell at the storied club a successful one? For the moment, we can say it is looking like the latter of the two. After dispatching Celta Vigo 3-1 with numerous notable absences in the starting eleven, Madrid looked reborn. Luka Jovic was the only debutant to appear in the match as an 81′ minute substitute. Also, Gareth Bale had an inspired performance in Madrid’s first match. After constant distractions regarding his future at the club, it finally looks like he has a major role to play this season.

Valladolid earned a victory as they upset Real Betis in their opening fixture. Once again, they will look to play spoiler at the Bernabeu on Saturday. History suggests they may find this task difficult. In 6 La Liga games between the clubs, Madrid have won 5 and the other ended in a draw. In this case, Valladolid would be happy to escape with a draw. 22 year old Turkish forward Enes √únal has the potential to be a difference maker in this one. He has the pace to hit Madrid on the counter in a fixture which will likely see Madrid hold possession for the majority of the match. He has the skill to develop into a fantastic striker. This may be his breakout year. Ultimately, Madrid may prove to be too much to handle for Valladolid in this one.
