Roma vs Basaksehir kicks off Group J of the Europa League. Roma will be happy to take on the Turkish side in front of their home crowd at the Stadio Olimpico. The home side are favourites to win this match but anything short of a strong performance will leave the door open for Basaksehir to cause an upset.

Roma vs Basaksehir Prediction & Match Preview

Thursday, September 19 – 15:00 EST – Stadio Olimpico

Roma’s domestic form has been adequate at best. After changes in the off season, Roma have struggled to regroup and operate as a unit. The loss of their star centre back Manolas has been evident, as they have conceded six goals in three games. Fortunately, the offense have not had issues finding the back of the net and are picking up the slack. Paolo Fonseca has opted for an attack-minded formation wherein he selects the hot hand for any given game. As usual, Eden Dzeko will be the main goal threat. New signing Mkhitaryan got off to a great start, as he managed to find the back of the net in his Roma debut. Roma are the clear favourites in this one and we do not see them leaving this one with anything less than three points.

After finishing second last year, Basaksehir have struggled to find success this season. After four games, they have accumulated a mere four points and sit in 14th place in the Turkish League. To make matters worse, Basaksehir will have to face Turkish giants Besiktas following their game against Roma. They must not look ahead and stay focused on their matchup at the Stadio Olimpico. Ex Real Madrid star Robinho will lead the attack for Basaksehir. Furthermore, Basaksehir have a squad full of veteran footballers including Arda Turan, Gael Clichy and Demba Ba. Their leadership is invaluable to turning their season around. They can look to do so in their match against Roma on Thursday.
