Schalke vs Hertha Berlin Prediction & Match Preview

Saturday, August 31 – 9:30 EST – Veltins Arena

Both of Schalke’s matches have been against above average opponents. It is truly no surprise that Bayern Munich defeated Schalke in convincing fashion. Schalke must find a way to get a result in front of their fans. This can turn their season around and provide some much needed momentum for a club looking to finish in a Champions League spot. New manager David Wagner will be feeling the pressure. His bosses surely have high aspirations for the club considering their investment. The most prominent issue is their inability to score in both games this season. Moreover, they do not have many players to turn to in light of this problem. However, promising young striker Ahmed Kutucu may be the solution if given his first start of the season.

Hertha Berlin are faced with a similar problem after not scoring against Wolfsburg in a 3-0 loss. Their opening game was extremely promising however, as they managed to earn a draw on the road to powerhouse Bayern Munich. Marko Grujic is the driving force in the midfield and he will look to build on his great start to the campaign. Interestingly enough there was a formation change between game one and game two. They began their match against Bayern with a 3-5-2 formation. The wing backs worked well in this formation and they earned a respectable result. The match against Wolfsburg saw them change to a 4-2-3-1. It might be time to revert back to what brought them success in the first match. Ultimately, this will be up to manager Ante Covic who will not want to drop two games in a row.
