Sunday, August 25 – 11:30 EST – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Mauricio Pochettino has done a wonderful job of integrating the new signings into the squad. Tanguy Ndombélé has made his way into both of the starting elevens to begin the season. He also handed a debut to Giovani Lo Celso who came off the bench against City. Pochettino has opted for a central midfield of three as opposed to his usual two. It will be interesting to see if he reverts back to two as pivotal winger Son Heung-min rejoins the squad after serving his suspension. Either way he must make adjustments to the lineup as Son is a footballer who must be a constant fixture in Pochettino’s eleven all year long. His decision is made even more difficult when you take into consideration the form of the players who most frequently make way for the starters. The form of Lamela and Lucas in particular has been fantastic.

Newcastle face another tough test on Sunday as they will attempt to steal points on the road to Tottenham. Things aren’t getting any easier for the Magpies. New manager Steve Bruce can be forgiven for the slow start. It should be expected that the squad take some time to adjust to the new manager and new signings who were brought in. The bad news compounds for Newcastle as their two most impactful signings as of late may miss out due to injury. Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton will be doubts to feature in this contest. However they may push to make an appearance. This will be a huge boost for Newcastle if even one of these dynamic players can start the match.
