La Liga is back this Saturday with Valencia vs Real Sociedad. The two face each other at Estadio de Mestalla in what is expected to be one of the most entertaining games of the weekend. Valencia aim to kick off the new season in style in front of their home crowd. They are looking to start the season on the right foot with a win, but this matchup will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts.

Valencia vs Real Sociedad Prediction & Match Preview

Saturday, August 17 – 13:00 EST – Estadio de Mestalla

Valencia had a very impressive run last season finishing in 4th place behind Real Madrid by only 7 points. A man to watch in the home team will be Spain international Rodrigo, who decided to stay with the club in the summer transfer window. Valencia have acquired goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from Barcelona as well as left winger Denis Cheryshev.

Real Sociedad finished last season in 9th place. They will definitely be looking to improve on that position this season. They look to bring some depth to their strike force with the signings of Alexander Isak from Dortmund and Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid. Real Sociedad will be happy leaving Estadio Mestalla with a point. Valencia are the favourites here but don’t count Real Sociedad out as they look to start the season off on the right foot. Anything short of a great performance could leave the home crowd with a disappointing result.

We think that Valencia should have what it takes to walk out of their home stadium with a positive result. They are undefeated against Real Sociedad in their last four consecutive matches. Furthermore, Valencia proved to be dominant at home as they only dropped 2 matches last season. We expect them to take the full 3 points on Saturday.
