Washington Nationals vs Houston Astros

Sunday, October 27 – 20:07 EST – Nationals Park

Expected Pitchers: Max Scherzer (14-7, ERA: 2.83) vs Gerrit Cole (23-6, ERA: 2.42)

The Washington Nationals had a huge opportunity to distance themselves from the Houston Astros when they opened up the series with a 2-0 lead. However, they find themselves back at square one after four games played. Another important match will present itself tonight at Nationals Park. Washington know that they need a big performance and a positive result to keep their hopes alive. This matchup will feature the same starting pitchers of the first match. The Nationals will send Max Scherzer to the mound. The 35 year old pitcher did well last time out. He allowed only two runs and recorded seven strikeouts in five innings pitched. He now has a huge chance to prove his worth once again in front of the home fans.

On the other hand, the Houston Astros will look to complete a three game winning streak on the road on Sunday. Many believed that this team was done and dusted after they lost the opening two matches of the series at Minute Maid Park. They have since then showed up to play and now find themselves in an interesting position. Gerrit Cole will be sent to the mound in the hope of earning a win this time out. In the first match, Cole conceded eight hits and five runs in seven innings pitched. With that being said, that was his first loss of the postseason. Will he be able to bounce back and put that disappointing performance behind him? A lot is a stake between these two teams on Sunday. The winner will be one game away from the World Series.
